Urgent help would be greatly appreciated.

																	One end is connected to your computer and the other is connected to the main network device probably a router. 
																	I have plugged the router up to a different computer and my xbox and it works that way. 
																	Ethernet cables plug into ethernet ports which are larger than phone cable ports.

																	Instead of buying a new one outright plug the same cable into a different computer or temporarily swap out the ethernet cable for a known good one.

																	I ran diagnostics and it said to plug in the ethernet cable to the network adaptor.

																	Wait for good 15 minutes. 
																	If you are using a laptop remove its battery too. 
																	On troubleshooting it s says that an ethernet cable is broken or not plugged in properly and is unable to fix the problem as obviously i am not connected via any cable.

																	If that doesn t fix it plug the cable into another port on the router. 
																	If that fixes the problem you ve got a defective router. 
																	It is a pretty ridiculous problem so i am glad i could save someone the time of troubleshooting their computer over something so simple.

																	As long as you don t need all of your ports you can get by. 
																	If this procedure doesn t help try testing for a faulty cable. 
																	Turn off your computer and remove the power cable from it. 
																	Wifi works fine with phones ipods ipads and another laptop that was also updated to windows 10 a desktop still using windows 8. 
															
													
									
	
		
	
																	Now locate your ethernet connection and right click on it. 
																	But once i plug it into my laptop there is nothing. 
																	The wifi will pick up just fine i would just rather have an ethernet connection.
