Power Door Lock Fuse Keeps Blowing

Ive recently had the dash apart to fix the defrost diverter.

Power door lock fuse keeps blowing.

When i got home i noticed the fuse for the door locks was blown. You have a short somewhere in the system. Does it blow the fuse if so sounds like possibly a door lock actuator is going out and sticking causing the fuse to blow. If you caught it early enough you may be able to clean it up with dielectric grease a must have for working on car electrical systems.

Iv since had the dash back apart and replaced the door lock relay. Power door locks are prone to failures due to electrical interruptions corrosion broken wires or blown fuses. If the power door lock relay fails it will cut off power to the entire power door lock. Once the switches corrode you will keep blowing fuses until you either remove the corrosion or replace the switch.

I hooked up my camper and a few mile down the road i could smell electric burning. To test disconnect all locks and switch then replace fuse if don t blow start with driver door and reconnect lock check fuse see if it blew if not reconnect switch active lock check fuse see if ok. Ive disconnected the brake controller the cig. Worked fine for a week until i hooked up my camper again.
